I. Who is responsible for the content and maintenance of the website and who takes care of data protection?

II. In what form is personal data processed?

1. Provision of the website and creation of log files

 
When you visit our website, the browser used on your device automatically sends information to the server of our website. This information is temporarily stored in a so-called log file.
 
The following information is collected without any action on your part and stored until it is automatically deleted:
– IP address
– Log files
– Inventory data, traffic data and content data of the website
– Error protocols
 
Log files allow website operators to monitor activities on their websites. The access logs of the web server keep a record of when each particular page was visited. This includes the following data: IP address, directory protection users, date, time, pages visited, protocols, status codes, data size, referrer, user agent, host name used.
 
 
2. Hosting, operation and development of the website
 
This website is hosted on a server belonging to the company Mittwald. Mittwald saves data for the following periods of time:
– The IP addresses are saved in anonymised form. For this, the final three digits are removed, that is, 127.0.0.1 becomes 127.0.0.*. IPv6 addresses are likewise made anonymous. These anonymised IP addresses are saved for 60 days. Information about the directory protection user will be made anonymous after one day.
– Error logs that monitor failed site visits are deleted after seven days. Along with the error notice, these include the IP address accessing the site and, depending on the kind of error, the website being accessed.
– Visits via FTPs are anonymised and saved for 60 days.
 
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin has carefully selected the service provider Mittwald. Mittwald is obliged to follow the instructions of the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, and their activities are regularly evaluated.
 
 
3. Cookies
 
Cookies are used on this website. These are small text packages that can be sent from a website to the browser, which stores them and sends them back.
 
The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin stores the following information from the data transmitted when you visit this website:

These are automatically deleted after you leave our site and are only stored locally on your end device. If you visit our site again to use our services, it is automatically recognized that you have already visited us and which entries and settings you have made so that you do not have to enter them again.
 
The cookies are processed in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR in conjunction with § 3 BDSG. As soon as you shut down your browser, the cookies are deleted.
 
 
4. Contact
 
We process the personal data you provide to us by e-mail, or by other means (in the course of fast and cost-effective communication) to answer and process your inquiries and your order. If you contact us via E-Mail, Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR is the legal basis for this processing. The personal data will be deleted as soon as it is clear that it is no longer needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
 
 
5. Vimeo
 
For the integration and display of video content, our website uses the platform “Vimeo” offered by the provider Vimeo Inc. (Attention: Legal Department, 555 West 18th Street New York, New York 10011, USA).
Vimeo is used in the interest of a providing an appealing presentation of our online content. This represents a legitimate interest as outlined in art. 6 para. 1f of the GDPR.

6. Pictures and videos of people on the website
 
People may be recognizable in images or videos on our website. In this case, processing is carried out on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. e GDPR in conjunction with Section 3 BDSG. If you are affected, you have the right to object to this use.

III. What rights do users of our website have?

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
– the right to information (Art. 15 GDPR)
– the right to rectification and erasure (Art. 16 and 17 GDPR)
– the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
– the right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
– the right to data portability (Art. 20).

You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority about the processing of your personal data by us (Art. 77 GDPR). The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI) is responsible for the Stiftung Preussischer Kulturbesitz.

IV. Amendment of the privacy policy

The Staatliche Museen zu Berlin – Preußischer Kulturbesitz reserves the right to adapt the privacy policy in line with technical developments and changes in the legal framework. You will find the current version of this data protection declaration at the end of the declaration.
